We provide a learning environment that is stimulating, inspired by the children based on their strengths and interests and articulated to meet their needs. Whilst our programme is based on the strengths and interest of the child, programme planning is linked to the goals and strands of Te Whariki, the Early Childhood Curriculum.
We acknowledge the influence the family has on the learning of children, therefore welcome your continuous input to your child’s learning journey.
Our teaching team is passionate, professional, innovative and enthusiastic, and share a love of children and this is reflected in our ability to make learning fun and a positive process enjoyable to all.
We value ourselves, others and our natural environment. Whanaungatangata (mutual respect). We acknowledge our bi-cultural society and value the cultural diversity of children and families in our community, and this is reflected in our teaching practices.
Partnerships are the cornerstone of our relationships with the children, family/whanau, extended family/whanau and the wider community, and strive to develop and maintain positive relationships with all families within our community through open communication. Our teachers recognise that children are individuals but also part of this wider community.
We constantly strive to improve our own personal practices and are committed to on-going personal and professional development to provide the very best care, education and customer service for all children and families/whanau.
Our commitment is to make a difference, by preparing children for life.
As a mixed aged programme, we promote tuakana teina relationships; it provides a model for buddy systems. An older or more expert tuakana helps and guides a younger or less expert teina. In a learning environment that recognises the value of ako (teaching and learning), the tuakana teina roles may be reversed at any time.
Keanu and I have recently made a transition into Miramar childcare and it is going so well and smoothly, we really love how friendly the staff and children are. Miramar childcare is a huge whanau they welcomed my son and I with open arms. Keanu was a bit shy at first but he fits right in and is enjoying his settling in days. My nephew Rome was also apart of Miramar childcare and has recently moved on to school but he loved his time there and made a strong bond with the teachers and tamariki.Summer (2019)
